SCREEN LAYOUT
The screen display has a MAP WINDOW fills up most of the screen. Below the MAP is a MAIN WINDOW and below that is the INPUT WINDOW. To the right side of the screen are the ALIAS BUTTONS.
The MAP WINDOW shows the world which you are in. You are the dark blue player. People who are not able to be splatted by you are the light blue players. This includes teammates and in survival it means people with less then 6 splats. The red players are your enemies.
The MAIN WINDOW displays game information and messages and messages from other players.
The INPUT WINDOW is where you enter messages that you wish to send. This includes Chat, Say, Whisper, Shout, and Tell. You will also type your commands here, such as buy, sell, look, etc etc.
The ALIAS BUTTONS make it easier to do some of the commands you do often. Some buttons have been set up for you but you can change them if needed.
SEEING WHO IS PLAYINGHit CTRL-W so see a list of who is online. You can find out people's level, splat count, and many other things about a player from this list.
Other commands that you might want to use:
-"who game" will tell who is in the game and who is not.
-"who <name>" will give you information about a certain player.
-"look" will tell you who is standing on the same square as you.
-"look <name>" will tell you what a person is wearing. NOTE: they must be
on the same square as you.
-"who <level>" this will tell you who is online that is a certain level.
Good to use to find an admin.
Example: Type "who 90" to see a list of the
90s online.
You have the following commands available to you for communicating with other players:
"chat" to communicate with EVERYONE in the game
"shout" to talk to only those that are up to 25 squares away
"say" to talk to the people who are standing near you (up to 3 squares)
"whisper" to talk to only the people who are standing where you are
"tell <name>" to talk directly to one person
"plan" talk to your teammates.
You can find out information about your character by using the "stat" command.
Try typing "stat" now. It tells you:
- how much MONEY you have
- how much weight you are carrying
- how much BONUS you have earned in games
- how many SPLATS you have done
- your accuracy (SPLATS/SHOTS) in games
- what ITEMS you are wearing and holding
- whether you are in a game or not (and current game stats)
There are a number of different ways you can move.
The most often is to left click on the square you wish to move too.
You can also use the keypad to move around. Under options, turn the keypad movement on. Make sure you have num lock ON, then use the keypad to the right of your keypad to move. 8(north), 2(south), 4(east), 6(west). The 1, 3, 7, 9 keys can be used to move diagonally but you will move two squares.
Another way to move is use the written commands in the input window. Type: N(north), S(south), E(east), W(west).
If you have true movement(also under options) set to ON you will be able to change your direction before the last command was completed but this makes you move slightly slower.
WHAT YOU ARE WEARINGNew players (termed "Newbies"), are given some basic equipment. Type "stat" to see what you are wearing. You should have a beginner paintball gun[free] in your right hand. This gun will provide you with 30 shots of ammo (type "look gun" to see how much ammo is in it). You should also have a beginner woodland camouflage vest on your body. This vest makes you harder to see when you stay in the trees.
THE STORES-BUYING AMMOOn the map you will see four brown buildings. These are the stores. Left click to move your player into one of these stores. You will know you are in the store when it tells you the name of the store in the MAIN WINDOW. Once you are in the store, type "list" and it will list all of the items that you can buy at that store. You can also hit CTRL-Y to see a list of items to buy.
You will buy ammo for your gun at Guidos Gun Shop (upper left store.) Typically you will want to use free ammo until you get more experience shooting your gun. To buy ammo you type these commands:
buy bag -buys a bag of free ammo from the store.
load bag gun -puts all the ammo from the bag into your gun
sell bag -sells the bag after you load your gun
Do these commands over and over until your gun is full
AIMING AND FIRING YOUR WEAPONMake sure you are wearing your weapon by typing "wear gun".
Place your crosshairs on the square you wish to fire at and press your right mouse button. This will send a paintball flying to that square.
GETTING READY TO JOIN THE NEXT GAMETo set yourself automatically up for each game, type "game ready auto." If you wish to sit out of a game type "game ready." The Game ready is a toggle command.
There are several game related help topics. Below, there are listed a few.
Type help before any of these if you would like more help on them: Game, top10, Survival, Invaders, Flags, Hunt, Teams, Cooperative Flags
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF A GAMEGames start every few minutes. The amount of time between games, as well as how much time a game takes, depends on the number of people playing. Once a game starts, all of the players that are readied, are transported to a game field located in the world. The game field is bounded on all sides by a force field (red boundary) that won't allow you to leave. You will be playing a certain kind of game: survival, coop, teams, invaders, or hunt (see "help game") and it will tell you which game you are playing. Once on the field, they can shoot (and hit) each other.
If someone gets hit (splatted), he or she will be out of the game. If you are splatted, you are out of the game. However, until you try to move or fire your weapon, you will remain in the spot that you were shot at. If you try to move or fire, you will be teleported back into the holding area.
The object is to splat everyone else in the game. When there is only one player or one team left, or if the game time runs out, the game ends. Winners are given a reward depending on how many they splatted, as well as how many players started the game. In coop and team games, if your team wins you receive money even if you have been splatted.
Games also have computer controlled players called "bots" that will splat you if they can catch up with you. The "bots" are represented on the map by little robot images. The "bots" will not be placed into the game field until 1 minute (or about 15 seconds if the game in invaders) after the game starts (to give you time to hide from them). See "help bots".
While in the game, you might find a few tokens lying around on the ground, these are good for selling at the store to get more money. Tokens are represented on the field as yellow diamonds. See "help tokens".
While a game is running, whether you are in it or not, you can find out how long until the game ends by typing "game". If there is no game running, the "game" command also tells you how long it will be before the next game starts and how long until you reset your automatic reset.
LEVELSAs a level 2, you are allowed to play 25 games a day. When you have played 20 games you can ask a 90 for a reset.
You may level up by sending in $10 to DavidRM or Dug. Type moregames to find out more.
Levels 79-100 are admin levels. You can not buy them.
-79: Retired admin
-80: Main purpose is holding tournaments.
-90: Main purpose is reseting and basically keeping control of the chat.
-95: Same as 90 but can rename level 12+ equipment.
-100: Dug and DavidRM.
IMPORTANT:DO NOT give your password to anyone. Anyone who should have it can get it without your help!
Most often used scams:
-False Items. Selling/Trading items that appear to be something they are not. Beware of false kits and renames. Get an admin to help you if needed.
-False Commands. Take caution when typing commands that others give you. They might tell you to type d pai100x to find the secret store (there is no secret store). Typing this will drop your gun. Before typing any unclear command, ask an admin or look in the help file under command to see if it is a real command.
-Some people will leave in the middle of a trade. It is best to use the offer commands when doing trades.
Read Help Policy to find out what to do if you have been scammed.
See you on the other side of a splat!
