This is my personal addendum to the readme that comes with the game. Though it does refer
you to some nice info on the homepage, www.paintball-net.com, I feel it doesnt help the new
player much. I hope this helps you understand the game better, but you have to play to really
understand. Asking questions online is healthy, don't be shy. We're all newbies at some point! =)

Given this thing's length, I'd suggest printing it out and reading it when you have the time
as well as when you play the game.

Some extra info that should help you out.

Overview

PBNet is a real-time online paintball game. You create a character for yourself
to play as, and play against other people's characters. You get pbnet money from games,
and use it to get better equipment. More than that, you interact with actual people
online, not just a computer. You can join teams, make friends(or enemies!), and have
a good time splatting other people you don't even know.

The game is played on one HUGE map with a holding area in the center. The holding area
has 4 shops where you can buy weapons, armor, misc equipment, and kits to make your stuff
better.

When the games start, all people ready in the holding area are taken to a randomly chosen
part of the map that is the game area. You play in that area until you are splatted or win,
either way returning to the holding area.

Though the game can be frustrating at first as you fight your way up from 'newbie' status,
the perseverent player is rewarded by recognition, happiness, and a really nice char.

My notes below will help the newcomer get started on the right foot, or at least what I
think is the right foot. Do not feel obligated to follow my instructions to the letter,
the game is all about playing for yourself. Above all, HAVE FUN!

Logging On

To log in, click on the connect button. In order for this to work, you have
to have a tcp/ip(internet) connection active and have the program open.
You'll see a place to put the server, your username, your character name, and your password.
The character name is what people will see when you splat them, ex:
Azazel splatted you in the BODY!
or in the chat window:
paintdemon says:nice shot.
your username is what people see when they check your stats.
I'd suggest leaving it the same as your char name.
Obviously, make the password something you wont forget.

Free Registering

As soon as you log in, Register!

The first registration requires only sending them your email address.
It will send you a code to register. Use it and you get 2500! (pbnmoney)
It's under the commands menu, register/email. or it may pop up on its own.
Is nearly instantaneous, but give it about 5 minutes before checking your email
you register by typing register <the code they give you>

Basic Commands

+ Basic commands that you need to know:

game ready standby : Makes you sit out until you type game ready, so you won't
be interrupted while buying, selling, etc

game ready on : Sets you ready for the next game ONLY

game ready auto : You will automatically be ready for all games until
you type another game ready command

game ready off : Sets you as not ready for the next game, but that you
still want to play it. This is NOT standby, and will
make the next game take longer to stop.

game ready : If you are ready or auto ready sets you to not ready,
if you are not ready or standby, sets you to ready

game : Displays the stats for the current game

who : Displays the names of all players on the server

who <person> : Displays the person's basic stats (level, splats, name)

who <level> : Displays the names of all players of <level>
(use who 90+ to find admins who can reset you)

stat : Check what youre wearing at the moment, general stats

stat <person> : Stats of a person, (in depth)

look : Shows all objects and people in the same square as you

look <person> : Shows what the person is wearing. Good for sizing up
the opposition

buy <object> : In a store, buys the object and puts it in your hand
(a hand must be free and you must have the cash)

sell <object> : If you have the object in your hand and are in a store,
sells it and gives you the money. Objects sell for the same
price that you buy them at

wear <object> : Makes you wear the object (it must be in your hand)

remove <object> : You take the object off and put it in your left hand
(at least one hand must be free)

put <object> <container> : Puts object from your hands into the specified container
containers include backpacks, jackets, suits, lockers,
and anything with a pocket kit

get <object> <container> : Gets the object from the container(hands must be free)

assemble kit <object> : Use this to add kits to objects. the kit must be in one
hand and the object in the other

chat <message> : Use this to talk to other people (ask for help?)
'; <message>' and 'c <message>' also works

tell <person> <message> : Sends <message> to <person>, does not show it to everybody
people will often say to give them a tell if you have
questions, that's what they mean

reply <message> : Acts like a tell to the last person who told you something
Useful, but make sure you know who it's going to

chat off : Makes it so the chat window will not show everybody talking
useful if trying to keep screen in one place

action off : No longer see what people are doing around you
<buying, selling, loading, dropping, etc)

rtell, rreply, rwho : Just like the normal ones, but works for other servers.
Only for level 12+ people

All actions can be abreviated by typing fewer than the full command name

ex: ga rea a (game ready auto)

Just be sure that it can only be the abreviation for one command

ex: w could be who or wear

Basic-Equipment

+ You'll start out with a beginner paintball gun[free]
You'll also have a beginner woodland camo vest[free]
As you'd probably guess, the beginner stuff is pretty much crap
Here's a list of things i'd STRONGLY recommend you buy:
(to buy things go to a store and type 'buy <object>'
typing list will show shop contents)

large backpack.......................$150 (mid shop/supply depot)
down filled jacket...................$500 (bottom shop/armory)
padded leggings......................$100 (bottom shop/armory)
padded helmet.........................$50 (bottom shop/armory)
padded scarf.........................$100 (bottom shop/armory)
woodland camo kit(to put on jacket)...$20 (top right shop/chop shop)
grassland camo kit(to put on jacket)..$20 (top right shop/chop shop)
scope kit(to put on helmet)..........$100 (top right shop/chop shop)
turbo kit(to put on leggings).......$1100 (top right shop/chop shop)
swim kit(to put on leggings).........$250 (top right shop/chop shop)

This stuff costs a total of $2390.
It will pad you nearly everywhere, and speed you up on water and land.
(maybe play a game without the stuff first, to see how slow you go)
The you could change the woodland and grassland camos to anything you like, but
those are the ones i suggest. If you change, change grassland to mountain.
Camo makes it harder for people to see you when you are in that type of terrain.
If you crouch(type crouch) in that terrain it works even better. However, if you keep
moving the camo won't help you too much. Doesnt hurt either. The scope will give you
a longer sight range, provided that trees and mountains dont block your view. Standing on
a mountain lets you see over stuff better, use your scope like that.

The downside is that you'll be left with a free gun and 110 cash. The gun stinks, but
the ammo is free. To get it(the gun starts out empty) go to the top right shop and type:
buy bag & dump bag gun & sell bag
This will buy a bag of free paint, put the ammo into the gun, and sell the bag so its gone
Do this until it shows:
nothing from the bag was dumped into the gun

You could even sell your free paint gun and get a free paint rifle at the gunshop.
I would if i were you. Rifles need 2 hands, but reload faster and shoot farther.

Game Play

+ Now for the big stuff: how the game is played
You move by clicking the left mouse button, fire a rifle, etc with the right.
You can also move with keypad, as mentioned earlier, and fight with a can(see section 8)

All games contain bots. These are released from the sides of the game area <red diamonds>
after about 1 minute. They run toward people and blow up, splatting them.
Either shoot them or run. (they are thin, so some shots can go through them)
Bot splats give you $2, instantly awarded to your account. Unless youre using free ammo, this
isnt really worth it.

People you should splat appear red on the screen. If you splat them, you get $5 instant money.
It's not much, but it adds up.

Most games have tokens, placed randomly on the field when the bots are released.
They appear as yellow diamonds on squares. type
get token & put token back
to get the thing and put it in your backpack. Out of game, they sell for anywhere from
$5 to $45.

Flags are used in 2 kinds of games. They appear as white diamonds on the ground.
You can pick them up just like tokens and sell them out of game for $10 apiece.
But here's the catch: in a game, if an enemy gets your flag, you are instantly splatted.
If you are splatted in game and you have flags on you, they are all dropped where you died.
If you pick up your own flag, you cant put it in a container during that game. It has to
stay in your hands. All of your actions are slower while you have your own flag.

In any game, survival is rewarded if you splatted a person or a bot during that game.
If you survive to the end, you get some money. Not much, but it's more than the splat prize.

+ Game types:

Survival: Total free-for-all newbies with nearly 0 splats are invulnerable in these games
Last person left alive gets lotsa cash. If several people survive, first
and second place prizes are awarded.

Invaders: Bots vs Humans. All players are placed in the center of the field.
After a minute, HORDES(usu 10-20 a person) of bots are released.
If you survive a vaders game, you are very well rewarded.

Flags : Like survival, but everyone starts out with their flag under their feet

Hunt: One randomly selected person vs the world. Whoever splats the victim in this game
gets a prize. If you are the victim and survive, you get a larger prize.

Teams : People are divided into two teams. Each team starts together in a random place.
If your team wins, you get a prize, whether you survive or not.
This replaces survival prize

Cooperative Flags: Teams + Flags. 'Nuff said.
hint: get some of your teams flags, they start underneath you!
or better yet, find the other team's flags and get them all!

Real Survival, Real Teams: Same as others, but some stuff is disabled.
Detectors of all kinds, and all hiding gear except camo doesnt work
Not sure about turbo, swim, and jetpack kits, or bots.

Game Terrain:

Grass-green and flat. Easy to see stuff on it, easy to be seen in it. Can run fast on it.
Don't stay in the open too long. Can shoot across grass.

Forest-light green shrubs. Conceals you better, but slows down movement a bit. Can't shoot
through it

Jungle-dark green squares. Hides you well, blocks shots. Slows you down more than jungle.
Good for hiding, at least for the newbie vest

Hills-round rock circle with grass on top. When standing on it you can see farther, but
can also be seen easier. Use scope with this for best results. Avoid if you are
hiding and/or running. Slows you down a bit.

Mountains-brown rock squares. Holding area is surrounded with them.
Standing on them allows for better sight, better than hills.
Stops shots, slows down quite a bit. Exposed while on them.
Don't try to hide on these.

Desert-brown flat squares. Slow you down a lot, avoid if possible. Little concealment.
shots will pass over these spaces.

Valley-light grey-brown holes. Hard to see out of them or see into them. Very good hiding
spots, esp. with camo. Slow you down more than forest, less than mountain
Can shoot over them.

Water-blue, wet, and a pain to all players. Slows you down the most of any terrain
can be seen on it easily and can shoot over it.
Water short-circuits refracto kits, making the normaly near invisible people
stick out like a sore thumb(unless they have water camo).
Jetpack lets you pass over this easily, but it costs a lot.

Buttons & Aliases

Aliases are REALLY useful. They are custom commands you set to do several things at once.
For example, you can make an alias so that typing rearm does the previously mentioned reloading
commands: buy bag & dump bag gun & sell bag
You can make them as complex as you want. Just remember that once an alias starts running, it will
finish before any other commands you enter are processed

To make an alias, go to the commands menu and choose edit aliases. Type the new alias name and the
commands you want it to do in the appropriate boxes, and click new alias. The alias should appear
in the top box with the actions beside it. If you want to edit it later, select the alias you want
to change, and edit the text in the actions box.

Buttons are the rectangles on the side of the screen. They function much like aliases, and are easier
to use during games. To edit them, right click one, and it will open the edit button window.

You can change the symbol and name of the button, and the button's new appearance will be shown.
The box to the left shows what text will be shown if you put the mouse on it without clicking
The large commands box is where you enter the commands for the button.
Sometimes it's a good idea to define an alias, and have to button call the alias.

Some commands used pretty much only in aliases and buttons are:

<direction> : <direction> must be north(up), south(down), east(right), or west(left).
it moves you one square in that direction

target <direction>: like above, <direction> must be north, south, east, or west. This moves the
targeting cursor(the crosshairs) around. This is where your weapon is aimed.

fire : fires your weapon

NOTE: to link commands in buttons(what they are for), use the & sign, ex:

sell can & buy can & north & north & north & east & east & buy rapid & ass kit can

to link commands in the make alias window, you have to have one command on each line,
with \& at the end of each but the last, ex:

sell can \&
buy can \&
north \&
north \&
north \&
east \&
east \&
buy rapid \&
ass kit can

**Newer versions of PbTerm(1.7x) do not require the & symbol in written aliases..

Canning: Another Strategy

When you get $300, which you should if you register or if you play even a few games,
I'd suggest you learn how to can. Here's a basic walkthrough of canning basics:

1. buy a can of spray paint from the center store
2. make the can be in your right hand
3. if it isnt already out, go up to locators and get out the aiming compass
4. use the arrows so that the targeting reticle is right next to you on any of the 8
8 sides (starts out underneath you, center button puts it back there)
5. run around and hit the red people with the targeting reticle. If it hits them,
the can will automatically fire. The can ammo is very fast, and is almost a certain splat
6. reload the can by selling the one you have and buying a new one, net cost is $2 per shot.
7. make a targeting alias button with the code
tar home & tar w & tar n & tar e & tar e & tar s & tar s & tar w & tar w & tar n
which will make the targeting reticle circle you(and splat anything there)
you have to stand still while it's working though. It may seem to jump, but it's working
8. I'd also suggest using keypad movement while canning. You have to enable it under the
options menu, but you can control yourself better with it. Also turn on true movement,
it lets you change direction once you've clicked to move somewhere

Though the can itself costs $115, i say have $300 so you have an ammo margin.

A Little Bit Later

Keep your free paint gun for a while, until you have about 1300 or so.
Then get either a semi-auto paint rifle or semi-auto paint gun,
as per your preference.
Once you get a real gun, you'll need to pay for ammo, no more free stuff.
A box of 30 cyan paintballs(basic stuff, $1 per shot) costs $35. Use
buy box & load box rifle & sell box
to reload it. Or gun, if you have it.
If you've noticed a disparity in the prices (30 balls, $1 per shot, costs $35) you are very observant
when you sell the box, you get $5 back, evening it out.
The same with cans; $100 for 50 shots, $15 for the can itself

+ If you've been playing games, you'll eventually run out of games for the day.
Like it says when this happens you have a couple of choices:
1. Wait for the day to end so your games reset
2. Buy another level
3. Ask a level 90+ admin to reset your games

Admins are people 79+.
level 79s are retired admins. Cool people nonetheless, and their high level is no joke
level 80+ admins can force start and stop games, overriding if people are ready or not
level 90+ admins can reset games played, find these when you run out
level 95+ admins can rename items. People do this to make their stuff look cooler

Voting

You can vote for the type of game you like the most, and influence whether that game will be
the next one played.
Typing 'vote' will display a list of who's voting for what, and the vote totals

The power of your vote on the totals depends on your level, but not excessively
(ie, a level 30's will count a bit more than a level 2's vote)

To vote, type 'game vote <type of game you want>'
This will put it on your voting list. The list does not clear between games.
To remove a game from your voting list, type 'game remove <game you want removed>'
Typing 'game vote' will show you what you are voting for

All the games under the top two percentages (there can be more than 2 if there is a tie)
are candidates for the next game. The computer will randomly pick one of them, and that's
what the next game will be.

You can also say that you hate a certain kind of game, and dont want to play it at all
This is done by typing 'game hate <type of game>'
The hate list can be seen by typing just 'game hate'
When a game from this list is chosen by the computer, the game will start without you, and
you won't waste a game on it. Sitting out stinks though.
To remove a game from this list, type 'game like <type of game>'

Registering & Levels

+ Levels influence your abilities on PBnet. They cannot be earned, they must be paid for
Some people do sell level ups for PBnet money, but it costs a lot. I wouldn't get one

You start off as level 0 when you first log on.
Level 1s have sent in their email to register, but it bounced
Level 2s have registered with their email and have gotten the $2500 for doing so
Level 12+s are fully registered players

If you like the game, i'd STRONGLY suggest fully registering.
The way to do it is in the help menu on the top right, and it costs $10 real money.
I'd suggest credit card, is secure and faster.
It gets to you ususally within the week, and you are fully set.
If you mail it you have to wait longer, but it works too.

You become a level 12 and you get a lot of new options
like:
a locker in the shops that can hold your stuff out of battle. type put <object> locker

the ability to drop things as well as give things, used for player to player trades

the ability to use rtells, rwhos, rreplys which work to other servers
(talk to people not on same server, who's on another server, etc)

more games allowed per day

more weight capacity

more respect from people

more powerful vote

last but not least:
just like before, under the notes menu, go to read note and read them ALL!
one will be addressed specifically to you and will contain 500!
will vanish when you read it, but will give you the cash. Very useful.

After you are a level 12, you can buy extra level ups in much the same way. Additional
level ups improve your weight carrying, games per day, and what people assume your ability is.
Most people judge you by your level, though splat count is more accurate

Other Servers

+ There are a total of 4 servers for PBNet. The first you're logged on to already:
paintball-net.com/4444 (main)
To log onto the others, change the text in that box to read one of the following
paintball-net.com/4445 (server one)
pbn.mudgate.com/4444 (server three)
paintball.busprod.com/4444 (busprod)

the first one is the main server, and is usually packed to the brim with people
most newbies go there
4445 is the tourney server. They run tournaments there, dont go to one until you have
some very good gear
mudgate is usually a quiet server. Fewer people go there than the others, but the people
are usually pretty good
busprod is generally as crowded as main

Wearing Equipment

Your PBNet character's body is divided up into the following parts:

Head
Eyes
Neck
Left Shoulder
Right Shoulder
Body
Waist
Legs
Feet
Left Hand
Right Hand

Each of these parts can be splatted, and each can have equipment put on them.
Obviously, you'll be splatted in the body more often than in the feet, but it can happen.

Each piece of equipment and each kit requires a certain area of the body. For example,

a helmet requires the head space
a jacket requires the body space
a rifle requires both hand spaces

Each kit also has a required area; turbo and swim kits require feet, scope kits
requre eyes, camo kits require body, etc. These requirements are added to whatever the kit
is applied to: ex:

a helmet[scope] will require Head and Eyes
a scarf[grassland] will require Neck and Body
padded leggings[turbo] will require Feet and Legs

You could even do some crazy stuff like putting scope kits on boots (making them require
both Feet and Eyes, but you would then not be able to wear anything else that requires your
Feet or Eyes.
This means that if you have a jacket, you can't wear a scarf with camo on it; they both need
the body space.
You can find out what spaces an object requires by holding it in your hand and typing

examine <object>

You can also be wearing the object.

Essentially, be careful about how you combine your kits and equipment, you may have
trouble wearing it all. However, there is an exception to the space requirement rule:

You can put kits that require a space on an object that requires the same space. ex:

down-filled jacket[woodland][grassland]

Because they combine into one object, their duplicate requirements are not a problem.

As well, an object that is expanded to other areas covers those areas as well;
a down scarf[jetpack] will require Neck, Body, and Waist, but will cover them all
with the down scarf's padding.

Following this, you could possibly replace the
down-filled jacket[grassland][woodland] and down scarf in the recommended buying list
with a down scarf[grassland][woodland], but having the scarf seperate allows you to put
other kits on it. The equipment list above has (in my opinion) the maximum room for
expansion.

As well, jackets and suits have built-in pockets, allowing them to hold some equipment
(but not too much!).

Suits also have built in Scope kits that DONT require your eyes.
So if you have a suit, you can wear a padded helmet[xray][infrared] and see with the
scope as well!

Two last items to consider: weight and volume.

Each object weighs a certain amount, and requires a certain amount of space when being
stored.

Since your char has a limit on weight you can carry, be careful what you buy.
Also be careful about the amount you try and put into your backpack/suit/jacket/etc.;
some things may be too big.

The amount of space an item takes while being stored, as
well as how much it can store and how much it weighs, can be seen by examining the object
as mentioned above.

Your locker (if you registered to level 12) has limited weight too, but unlimited space.

Advanced Stuff

Once you get some serious cash, you can think about getting some super gear. I'm telling you now
that the good stuff doesnt come cheap. Good buys when you get the cash are the following:

Large, Padded Backpack-name says it all. Pads your shoulders as well as holds a lot.
It weighs a bit more though.
Cost: $1500

Xray Kit-put it on a helmet and you can see tokens, flags, bots, and players not protected
by interference kits 5 spaces away from you, even through trees.
Sounds like little, but it helps
Cost: $10000

Infrared Kit-same as xray kit, but only works on players without insulation
few people defend against this, really works well
Cost: $7500

Since you cant have 3 kits on an object, to combine a scope kit with an infrared and xray kit
requires the following: xray glasses + infrared kit + scope kit
The downside is that this leaves your head and eyes unpadded.
Note: suits such as the insulation suit, refracto suit, etc have scope built in.
with those you can use a padded helmet with the two other kits
Total cost: $15100

Multi-terrain Down-filled jacket-get it when you get the chance! Camo for all terrain
but water, which you can add for $100, and nice padding
Cost: $7500, $7600 w/water

If you've gotten all this, think about getting something here:

Jetpack kit- super speed over all terrain, regardless of what kind. Makes dodging can shots
infinitely easier.
Cost: $45000

Interference kit-blocks locators except for infrared
Cost: $2500

Refracto kit-supersweet camo. Blocks visual only, but while standing still youre
the person could be next to you and not see you.
Shooting deactivates it momentarily, and it doesnt work on water
Think: the Predator movies
Cost: $45000

Cloaking suit-takes up all space on your body, so be sure to put kits on it.
Move incredibly slow while wearing it, but can never be seen, even while moving
Cant shoot with it on, but an alias to take off the suit, take out a can,
rotate the can, put the can back & put the suit back on can be deadly.
Cost: $20000

The cloaking suit is not practical in many cases, so here's the next best thing:

Multi-terrain insulated suit with refracto and interference

On water you can be seen, and a little while moving or shooting, but that's about it.
Downside is that you are not padded, and ordinary cyan can splat you.
But only if they find you!
Cost: $55000

As for the advanced weapons, here they are:

paintgrenade launchers-come in norm, mini and large size. large takes waist, fires faster
and farther and holds more ammo. Useful for large groups.
Both are better than just throwing grenades, which i think is useless
Grenades can go over trees and mountains, which can surprise opponents
Cost: $1250 normal, $2500 large, $2500 mini
Grenades range from $5 to $150, depending on quality

paintrocket launchers-only mini and normal, like the nade launchers, but fires rockets.
They travel in straight lines and hit things in their path
(players, terrain, etc). Blow up like nades upon impact
Cost: $2500 normal, $5000 mini
Rockets cost either $15 or $50, the more expensive being ultra-light

Proximity mines-drop them in combat and get away. If not used in combat, they are left on the
field and you lose a mine. They can make your accuracy rating soar, but
are somewhat cheap. Besides, they can take out teammates along with enemies
Cost: $35-$250

Miniguns-either the Uzi or the full paint minigun, which takes waist. Fires special ammo, both
are extremely fast. Very good stuff, replaces the guns when you have the cash
Ammo is an ongoing investment, make sure you can support it
Cost: $15000 for either

Paint shotgun-has spreadfire kit and burstfire(3shots at once) kit built into it. Think that
the reload is slow and range is low, not sure.
Cost: $7500

If you are truely shameless:

Paint uzi with spreadfire and ultralighthugehopperexpansion kits
OR
Mini paintgrenade launcher with ultralighthugepocketexpansion and rapidfire kits
OR
Mini paintrocket launcher with ultralighthugepocketexpansion and rapidfire kits
WITH
Multiterrain insulated suit with refracto and interference
Turbo boots with swim and ultralighthugepocket kits
Padded scarf with satelite and ultralighthugepocket kits
Padded helmet with infrared and xray kits

load pockets with either:
minigun nobounce ammo
OR
ultralightveryhighspeed paintgrenades
OR
ultralight paintrockets
AND
large, camoflaged proximity mines

The ultimate paintdemon, master of the splatfest, crazy beyond belief, too much time on hands.

Calculate the cost for this for yourself, I'm not doing it!

Tips, Tricks, Etc

A couple of points to help you out:

1. The best ways for newbies to earn money are teams and coop flags games
Get flags and tokens and sell them.

2. Don't beg for stuff excessively. It will only make people ignore and/or hate you.
A little bit here and there is okay, and don't ask for anything too large

3. Don't hold up the game by being not ready. People will nag you until you either get ready
or go standby. If you do this repeatedly, people will get upset. Better to keep them from asking.

4. Spamming (writing excessive messages and/or symbols that just take up window space) annoys people.
Don't do it on purpose, but if someone says your spamming, type a little less.

5. To sum up the previous two, be courteous to people online. I know this sounds like something
a teacher would say, but it's a good idea. Especially since admins can remove your ability to
talk for a period of time if they get annoyed at you.

6. Know when to fight and when to run. If you are carrying multiple flags and your team is good enough
to handle the rest of the other team, you don't necessarily need to join the fight.

7. When standing still, crouch. It makes your camo work better. Stand while running though.

8. Coordinate with other members of your team. You can find and splat people better as a team than
alone.

9. Invaders games give you lots of bot splats.. Spread cyan works best
in those games. If you can survive them, they are good sources of money.

10. Survival games can return a fair amount of money if you win them. Try them out when you get better.
They also get you more player splats as opposed to bot splats.

11. Keep a can and a box of paint or two in your locker (if you have one) in case you run low on cash.

12. Help newbies. It doesn't cost you anything to answer a question, and can make people respect you.
Some people even pretend to be newbies and give presents to those who help them...but these are rare

13. Tournaments or Tourneys are mainly for those who have all the good stuff and money to burn. Don't
enter them unless you fit that category. See the PBnet help file and other players if you want to
learn more about them.

14. Don't be a permanent canner or a permanent sniper. Switch around your strategies. It keeps people
guessing.

15. Learn the paint colors: purple/pink=free paint, light blue/cyan=norm paint, yellow=fast paint,
blue=fast nobounce, red=minigun norm, green=minigun nobounce. Use them to know who has what.

16. Some people offer old stuff for trades. Olds are generally very good, but make sure you know
what youre buying. Ask around for info on old stuff if youre not sure. Use the offer command when buy
rares too. Make sure to examine and know what you are buying. Saves you grief in the long run.

17. Valleys and Jungles make good hiding spots. Even better if theyre next to water;
people approaching will be slowed down, letting you get ready to can them from where you sit.

18. Until you can hold your own, stick near the bulk of people in invaders games. Crouch down
in a forested spot from where you can see the edges of the map(where the bots come from)
and don't block other people's shots. Also make sure people dont block your shots.
Running is generally not a good idea, the bots are pretty much everywhere.

19. While in game, check every now and then how many people are left with you and who they are.

20. Be careful with flags. A little bug in the game sometimes gets rid of flags you take into
games. Just to be on the safe side, don't enter a game with flags anywhere on you; sell them
or put them in your locker first. To the best of my knowledge, tokens are safe.

21. The offer list is a useful way to sell stuff. Type offer <item> <price>(item must be in your hand)
and it will be put up for sale. When someone looks at you with the look <person> command, they
will also see information about the item for sale as if they'd typed examine <item>. To accept
an offer, type accept <person making the offer> <offer's ID#, seen when you type look <person>>.
You will automatically be given the item, the cash deducted from your account and given to the
person. To take an item back from the list, type remove <object>.
NOTE: Flags on the offer list will vanish if you are splatted in a coop flags or flags game.
If you must offer a flag, stay out of those games, but otherwise avoid it.

22. Player-to-Player deals online can only be made between level 12's and up, since theyre the only
people with the 'give' command. Some people may try to scam you by taking your money or offer,
then leaving. Best choice is to get an admin to serve as middleman; both people give their stuff
to the admin, and the admin then give the items to the people, as per the deal. If someone says
to give them the money first, they may be trying to scam you.

23. When canning, keep the aiming compass out and move the reticle around. People look at where
you are when you can them, and try to avoid that side of you. Plus, some people on the edge of
the map cant be canned with certain reticle positions.

24. Don't use grenades w/o a launcher, rarely works. Dont use either nades or rockets until you have
the money to support them.

25. Make buttons to reload and change your weapons, rotate the target for your can, pick up tokens
and flags, crouch, stand, and get ready/go standby for games.

26. Go standby while buying, selling, dealing, or reloading, even selling flags or tokens. Getting
pulled into a game when you arent ready can be very inconvenient.

27. Don't take all the flags in coop flags games. If you are splatted, your whole team can lose.

28. If holding area is in the field, people always seem to go there. The stores are good places to
hide, but they are shot at, naded, and canned often.

29. If you get an old can (a rare that reloads faster than the modern can), put a rapidfire kit on it.
With that, you'd have to type sellbig can in order to sell it, preventing you from accidentally
selling it to the store.

FAQ

Q: How do I reload my gun?
A: Reloading is done at top left shop.
If you have one of the free weapons, type the following:
buy bag & dump bag gun & sell bag
Do this until it says 'Nothing from the bag was dumped into the gun.
If you have the free rifle, type 'remove rifle' first to remove it to one hand, then type
the above command with gun changed to rifle. You'll also have to type 'wear rifle'
after reloading to be able to shoot again.

If you have a gun/rifle other than the free stuff, you have to buy ammo for it. The cheapest
and most common is the cyan paint. To load with it, type:
buy box & load box gun & sell box
Again, if it is a rifle, remove first and wear last, as described above.

Q: How do I unjam my gun?
A: A gun jams when something gets in it that isnt supposed to be in there. It is unusual, but
it seems to happen to newbies the most. The main cause is loading the wrong kind of paint.
Free weapons can only free paint, nothing else. Similarly, other weapons cannot use free paint.
When your weapon jams, there are two things you can do:
1) sell the weapon and buy a new one (sell price is same as purchase price)
2) remove what's jamming it. This entails typing 'look gun/rifle' and then removing whatever's
in there 'get <what's in there> gun/rifle' if only paint is in there, it may help to buy
a small backpack from the center store, type dump gun/rifle small, and then sell the
small backpack. Otherwise, it takes out only a single paintball at a time.

Q: What are each of the stores?
A: Top left is the gun shop, where you buy weapons, paint, nades, etc.
Top right is the chop shop, where you buy kits
Mid is the supply depot, where you buy misc stuff, like backpacks, belts, and cans.
Bottom is the armory, where you buy stuff you wear like jackets, suits, boots, helmets, etc.

Q: How come I keep getting splatted?
A: Try not standing still. Most people wait a while after the game starts. A lot of splats
are made within the first few seconds. After that, dont run in straight lines all the time.
People can see where you're headed and will aim there. Swerve around to throw them off.
Lastly, some people just have better stuff and more experience. If you are consistantly
naded, go to another server or just play later.

Q: How do I know what I have in my hands?
A: Either type stat to see what youre wearing everywhere or type swap to switch whats in
your hands. You can also type stat left hand and stat right hand to see what you have there.

Q: How do I empty a hand?
A: Either sell what's in a hand (sell <item>), drop what's in your hand (drop <item>),
put it in a container (put <item> <container, like backpack or jacket>, or if you have a
2 handed weapon (rifle, etc.) type remove <weapon> to make put it in one hand only.
NOTE: You cannot fire a removed 2 handed weapon! You must type wear <weapon> first.

Q: How come the target crosshair thing turned white?
A: That means you cant shoot there. Either your shot wont get there because of something in the
way, it is out of range, youre out of ammo, or you dont have a weapon in your right hand.

Alias: gf

Use this if you keep a hand free.
Is best for drops when you've removed everything first.
Just edit the button to gf from gf2, clear your stuff with the Remove All button,
and run around clicking the button.
Also good for coop flags games, clear your hands with the Remove All button
and click this one a lot to get the flags quickly

NOTE: with both get flags aliases, you'll probably get your own flag at some point.
In this case, click swap to put your flag in your left hand, and then continue.
